Saying Yes to More Adventures: Hiking in Ireland, Travel & Exploring More
I’ve never really been someone who likes staying in the one place for too long.
I like routine and normal life, but I also always want something to look forward to. A trip. A hike. Even just a day somewhere different.
For years though, I used to wait. I would wait for other people to come with me, or for someone else to suggest the next trip. And most of the time, it just didn’t happen. At some point I realised that if I kept waiting on other people, I would probably be waiting forever. If I wanted to go somewhere, I needed to just go. If I wanted the adventure, I had to make it happen myself.
That is where “saying yes to more adventures” really started for me. I realised waiting for the perfect moment usually means waiting forever.
That’s how Aishling’s Adventures started.
I’m based in Ireland and love exploring hiking trails around Ireland, Wales and beyond. From Diamond Hill in Connemara to Achill Island along the Wild Atlantic Way, hiking has become a huge part of my life. Over time, getting outside and exploring new places has turned into something I genuinely need, not just something I do.
Now I love getting out around Ireland and travelling to different countries with my kids whenever we can. It’s not always fancy or plain sailing, but it’s fun, it’s real, and it’s our story.
How Hiking in Ireland Became My Reset Button
Hiking is the one thing that always pulls me out of a bad mood.
If I have a stressful day or just feel overwhelmed with life, getting outside changes everything for me. Even if I don’t feel like going at first, I never regret it once I am there.
Something about hiking up a hill, feeling your legs moving, breathing in that fresh air, looking out at a view that makes you feel small in a good way… it resets me.
That is how I fell in love with it.
I’ve hiked Diamond Hill in Connemara, Mullaghmore in the Burren, Achill Island in Mayo, Pen Y Fan in Wales and several trails in England.
Each one has felt different, depending on the weather and what was going on in my life at the time.
And this summer I plan to do loads more.
Travel, Hiking & Exploring Ireland and Beyond
Hiking is one side of it. Travel is the other.
I backpacked around Thailand for a month. I’ve been to New York, Lapland, Italy, Spain loads of times, and I’m always over in Lanzarote because my mum lives there.
Travel for me has never been about luxury. It has always been about experiences. New places. New views. New memories with my kids.
I work in marketing and finished my masters three years ago. I love what I do, but I also know my long term goal is to work remotely for myself one day. To have more freedom. To travel more often. To hike on random weekdays if I feel like it.
Until then, I am building that life slowly.
Saying yes to more adventures whenever I can.
Documenting My Travel and Hiking Adventures
I recently started sharing clips of my adventures on TikTok, but I wanted somewhere to write about them properly too, like my own personal diary.
You will find hiking stories from Ireland and beyond. Honest travel experiences. Places I loved. Places I would go back to. And the reality of balancing work, kids, life and still choosing to explore.
If you have ever felt better after a long walk, if you have ever booked a trip just because you needed something to look forward to, or if you just want to explore more without overthinking it, you are in the right place.
This is just the beginning of Aishling’s Adventures.
And I am saying yes to a lot more.
